Hunter ceiling fans are famous for their quality made, and reliability in the market these days. However, even the best ceiling fan may show wobbly blades. It means that the balance of your fan is out. If the fan left in this way, the result can be damaging to the fan. In addition, it is also annoying. It is necessary to repair the issue whenever you see your fan starting to wobble. It will give boost to the air efficiency and the life of the fan will also be longer.
Step 1. Inspect the screws that fix the blades to the blade holders. To avoid wobbling, you need to ensure that the blades are tight in their mountings.
Step 2. Use a damp rag to wipe all the fan blades. When you check for dirt and get rid of it, the fan will be balanced. After removing the dirt or dust from the blades, inspect if the fan is still wobbling.
Step 3. To measure the length from the tip of each blade, you can use a measuring tape, to the ceiling. The measurement of all the blades from the tip of the blade to the ceiling should be similar. If there is a change in the measurement, means any are under or over from others, it means that your blades might be bent slightly up or down at the blade holder. You will have to get a balancing kit if your fan is still wobbling now.
Step 4. Get a fan balancing kit and bring it home. A plastic clip-on weight must be there and multiple metal weights. Locate the middle point of the blade. Take the measurement of the blade and divide the length or span by two. It is the middle. Attach the clip-on weight at the middle point. Switch on the fan. If the wobbling becomes worse, move on to the next blade until the wobble stops. While doing that, if the wobble stops or gets reduced, it means that you have found the unbalanced blade.
Step 5. To go up and down the blade that is not balanced, use the clip-on weight. When you find that the wobble stops, you will get the origin of the issue. Get rid of the plastic weight and attach a metal stick-on weight. The problem is fixed. This is how you can balance your Hunter fan blades. After that, keep the weights in the store as you may need them in the future as another blade can get unbalanced. If your blades are getting unbalanced on a regular basis, you need to check the installation to make sure that it is installed properly.
You can use the weights when another blade gets unbalanced someday so keep it in a safe place. Older fans are more likely to become unbalanced. If you are facing the unbalanced issue frequently, it means there is a problem with the installation, inspect it to make sure the fan is properly installed.
